New BMBF information campaign “nanoTruck – High-Tech from the Nanocosmos”

With the new nation-wide information campaign entitled “nanoTruck – High-Tech from the Nanocosmos”, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF – Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung) aims to get nanotechnology out of the laboratory and to provide the general public with information on this promising new field of technology early. The initiative is designed to reach out to interested persons from all walks of life, and to young people in particular, who want to discuss the potential as well as the effects of this pioneering new science. The nanoTruck is at the heart of the initiative and brings visitors this new technology with a hands-on approach to pique their interest, amaze them and encourage more in-depth discussion. More than 60 exhibits, the majority of which are interactive, invite visitors to explore interesting effects and useful product properties. They are also given an opportunity to “dabble” in a laboratory

atmosphere and try out a few experiments, to engage in discussions with experts from a wide variety of different fields and to find out what the workaday world of a nanotechnologist is actually like. Anyone interested in career opportunities and occupations in the field of nanotechnology can talk to the scientists staffing the nanoTruck to obtain some first-hand information.
